Why should
I seek assessment services for abandoned cable?
Jurisdictions that have adopted the 2002 or 2005 NEC require
the removal of abandoned cable. The requirement is based on
NFPA’s concern over the uncontrolled build-up of combustible
cables in buildings. Abandoned cables contribute to high combustible
loading in concealed building spaces, leading to serious life
safety and property protection hazards. Left unmanaged, abandoned
cables can create problems in obtaining building permits and
in negotiations with network users and / or tenants.
